Kenyan woman has left mourners in questions at burial for lecturing a sister who came to attend her mother's burial for asking her to pay church rent while in unconscious in hospital bed.
The disturbing scene, captured on video by Jaramogi Son of Agrippina and later shared online, shows the woman confronting her sister during her mother’s burial ceremony an exchange that has sparked outrage and intense debate across social media.
In the video, the woman appears visibly emotional as she questions why her sister, despite not playing any active role during her mother’s illness, still arrived to take part in the funeral proceedings.
According to the account surrounding the clip, the sister had reportedly been texting their mother while she was in hospital and in critical condition, insisting on the payment of church rent charges.
Her mother, the family says, was at that time unconscious and receiving treatment, yet the demand for rental arrears allegedly continued even as the woman’s health deteriorated.
The video shows the woman telling the sister that the timing and nature of the request were insensitive. She argues that if someone is sick or if a mother is fighting for her life family members should focus on visiting, checking in, and offering support, rather than concentrating on financial demands.
“If someone is sick, kindly check on him/her, it's so painful you were able to pay transport sh100 to attend burial, am so bitter, you texted my mum asking for rental arrears not minding about mum condition,” the woman is heard saying in the clip.
Her remarks suggest that the sister, while willing to spend money on transport to attend the funeral, did not step in to visit the sick mother in the hospital during the critical period leading up to her death.
The woman’s frustration is amplified by her claim that the mother’s last days were marked by illness and vulnerability, while the message requesting payment reportedly came without any regard to her condition.
