Investigators have launched a probe into the death of a Kenya Defence Forces corporal at the Karare Forward Operating Base in Marsabit County.
The soldier, identified as Kelvin Thuku of the 25 Mechanised Infantry Battalion, was found dead early Sunday while undertaking an induction course for newly deployed personnel serving under 8 Brigade.
Preliminary reports indicate the corporal had sustained a serious wound to the throat. A joint team of police and military police officers visited the scene, accompanied by the base medical officer.
Investigators recovered a blood-stained military knife and the deceased’s mobile phone as part of the initial evidence.
Thuku’s body was later moved to the Marsabit County Referral Hospital Mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
Authorities are yet to establish what led to the corporal’s death, as investigations continue.
