Photo of the rider who ferried the gunman who shot dead prominent lawyer Mathew Kyalo as detectives recover the motorbike revealed.

Detectives investigating the murder of prominent lawyer Mathew Kyalo Mbobu have made another significant breakthrough following the recovery of the motorcycle believed to have been used to transport the suspected gunman to and from the scene of the fatal shooting.

The development comes after investigators arrested three suspects in connection with the killing, including Nicholas Lemiso Naula, a boda boda rider suspected of ferrying the attacker during the day of the incident.

Naula, according to investigators, played a key role in the police’s case as detectives sought to determine how the gunman accessed and later escaped from the area where Kyalo was shot dead.

Police said that during interrogation, Naula explained that he was operating a motorcycle identified by registration number KMGL 516L when the lawyer was shot.

He linked the timeline directly to the attack, stating that Kyalo was killed on September 9, 2025.

Investigators then moved quickly to verify and build on the rider’s claims, launching a detailed tracing operation aimed at tracking the motorcycle’s movements and establishing where it had ended up.

From there, detectives followed what they described as a careful investigative trail, working to identify the various individuals who had taken ownership of the motorcycle over time.

The process required persistent verification at different points, as the vehicle changed hands multiple times before it was eventually traced to its current location.

Once the motorcycle was located, detectives recovered it and took steps to ensure it was handled as an exhibit.

Police said the vehicle was later escorted to the Homicide Offices for further examination, where forensic assessment could be carried out and other investigative checks made to strengthen the case against the accused.

Upon presentation of the motorcycle to the detectives, Naula reportedly positively identified it as the same motorbike he used during the fatal attack, specifically confirming that it was the motorcycle involved in ferrying the suspected gunman.
