Hardcore Criminal Who Escaped From Kibera Law Courts While Handcuffed, Now Handed Death Sentence

Alex Kibisu, the man who staged a dramatic escape from Kibera Law Court cells in July 2025 has been sentenced to death.

While handcuffed, Kibisu pulled one of the most daring escapes by scaling the perimeter wall of the court and was said to have vanished through Kibera slums. At that time, he was due for sentencing hearing over an additional charge of armed robbery.

But he was serving a 20-year sentence at Kamiti Prison for violent robbery charges. He had appealed the sentence of death imposed and was substituted with a sentence of 20 years imprisonment on each count.
