Heartbreak as Ugandan First-Year Student Dies in Tragic Road Crash, While Reporting Back To School

A journey back to university ended in total heartbreak in Uganda over the weekend when a vibrant freshwoman from Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) tragically lost her life in a horrific road crash.

Anitah Ainembabazi Keitesi, a first-year Bachelor of Business Administration student full of promise and ambition who had recently joined the campus for the current academic year, was returning to her university in Western Uganda on Sunday following the emotional burial of her aunt in Butenga Village, Isingiro District.

What was supposed to be a routine journey back to her studies turned catastrophic when the boda boda she was riding on was involved in a violent accident shortly after passing Kaberebere Town along the Isingiro-Mbarara Road.

Keitesi fought for her life but ultimately succumbed to the serious injuries she sustained in the crash.

News of her sudden passing sent shockwaves across the country and the MUST campus, leaving fellow students, university staff, and her grief-stricken family mourning a young life cut short at the very start of her academic journey.
