Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has explained his changing position on former President Uhuru Kenyatta after questions about his strong criticism of the retired president during the 2022 election campaign.
Speaking during a national interview, Nyoro was asked why he once opposed Kenyatta but now appears to defend him.
Nyoro said political positions can change as leaders reassess their experiences and the performance of those in government. He acknowledged that many Kenyans supported the Kenya Kwanza administration in 2022 because of the promises made during the campaign.
“Like many Kenyans, we were duped... but we've come to discover who William Ruto is,” Nyoro said.
He argued that political leaders should be prepared to reconsider their positions when circumstances change and government policies fail to meet public expectations.
Nyoro's comments come amid renewed political realignments ahead of the 2027 General Election.
His remarks have drawn attention to the changing relationships among Kenya's political leaders, particularly as former allies reassess their positions and alliances ahead of the next election.
The interview has also revived debate over the political choices made during the 2022 campaign.
