President William Ruto on Tuesday addressed the nation on the state of the economy, pledging decisive action to lower the cost of living for millions of Kenyan households.
Speaking from State House Nairobi, the President said prices of unga, cooking oil and fuel had begun to stabilise, and promised further relief through expanded fertilizer subsidies and reforms to the Hustler Fund.
"My government hears the cries of mama mboga and the boda boda rider. We will not rest until every Kenyan can put food on the table with dignity," he said.
Opposition leaders welcomed parts of the address but demanded a clear timeline, while economists urged the government to pair promises with tighter fiscal discipline.
The address comes ahead of county forums planned in Nakuru, Kisumu and Mombasa, where residents will give views on the Finance Bill proposals.
