Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta has delivered a cryptic message to Mt Kenya residents as political activity intensifies ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during the burial of Mwalimu Jackson Karua, father of former Justice Minister Martha Karua, in Kirinyaga County, Uhuru urged residents to reflect on their past political choices.
Without naming any candidate or party, he appeared to caution the region against repeating a previous electoral decision.
“Unajua mtu kufanya makosa hajui ni makosa gani amefanya lakini kurudia ni makosa,” Uhuru said.
He later left the decision to voters, adding, “Lakini kama nyinyi mnajua mkirudia si ni shauri yenu.”
Uhuru then emphasized his message: “Kurudia makosa ndiyo shida.”
His remarks appeared to reference the 2022 presidential election, when he backed Raila Odinga against his then deputy, William Ruto. Ruto won the election and succeeded Uhuru as president.
